The R305 wheel is a great option if your looking for something that is similar to a Momo, Sparco, or OMP cutoff wheel without having to drill the hole pattern yourself. The 20mm spacer works well with the Fanatec Podium hub with button modules (it’s an option to buy the spacer here, I printed my own). I do wish there was an option to pick a covering (like alcantara) but I understand why the product is offered this way. The rubber feels good and is very low maintenance.
I saw these wheels first on SRG and knew right away that was gonna be my new favorite wheel. I placed the order for the wheel and it arrived quickly. It bolted right up to the Fanatec v2 hub and I was loving it but it needed something, rpm leds. Luckily the podium stuff came off backorder so I placed an order and now its near perfection. I think a R320 might be in my future though to really complete the package. I really like the shape of the wheel and the grips. Its not rubbery but it does seem to be getting more "grippy" as I use it more. I do wish for a leather wrapped option or maybe a silicone rubber version as my old mechanics hands are best when I can get enough grip with my palm that I can relieve the pressure from my thumb. This wheel does help because of its big grip areas though and I feel the R320 might even add to that a bit and I look forward to trying it. I love what your doing here at Turn Racing. Keep introducing new wheels and I'll keep buying them, especially at these prices. Thanks
I have used the R320 with the Fanatec endurance button module for over a week and it's indeed a great wheel rim! The grip is perfect for someone like me with small hands, with or without gloves. With bare hands the material feels really nice, not too rough or sticky. The best part aside from quality and everything is that it doesn't block any view so I can see the dashboard better!
I do have one little complaint though: because its upper half is completely open, when turning the wheel, one of my hands has to solely rely on the grip strength, whereas with other GT/formula wheels such as the Fanatec Formula V2.5, I can use the outer side of my thumb to push the wheel. I didn't even realize this until I started using R320. I was using the Fanatec Porsche rim, and I could use my ring finger to push the wheel as it rests just under the joint, which is not possible with R320 because the grip diameter is way larger. After about ten days of using it, my grip strength has certainly improved but it's still somewhat tiring.
I now have both the R305 and the R320. Sold my McLaren wheel straight away along with a couple others. The R320 w/ the Podium gear is so nice I'm not sure I will ever use anything else. My Fanatec Formula V2.5 looks nice hanging on the wall, It might stay there for quite a while now.
I had the Turn Racing R320 wheel laying around and wanted a good button plate to match it. And this is not disapointing. Great quality for the value. I had some spare handlebar tape to wrap the wheel. This means I can easily use the wheel without gloves and still have a very comfortable long session. And if later on the wrap gets dirty its easy to wash, or you can just easily re-wrap it with new bike handlebar tape.
Disclaimer: while I think this is a solid 4.5/5, I gave it a full 5 as it doesn't deserve a 4 and half stars aren't an option.
Been thoroughly enjoying this button box for the last week or so paired with the r320 wheel. Tactility on all the buttons is fantastic and the rotarys and funky switches all feel great. The provided RJ to USB cables are practically commerical grade and there's no concern about longevity there.
One of my only main complaints however are the shifters. For reference, my points of comparison are the SRC button box and the PSP studios formula style wheel on a VRS DFP. Both of which in my opinion provide a much more tactile and confidence inspiring action from the shifters. There is a slight inconsistency in tactility between the left and right paddles with the left being sharper and more pleasant and the right being slightly sloppier and rounder of a tactile bump. Both paddles have a slight up and down wobble while fastened in place. This is with the 10mm offset paddles installed. This is not as noticeable when actually racing and in the heat of the moment however a slight improvement in the tolerances and tactility would make this perfect in my opinion.
There is some slight flex when pressing some of the upper and outer buttons but it's a total non issue and you wouldn't notice unless you visually paid attention to the slight deflection.
The elegance and light weight of the unit is really unrivaled and paired with an already lightweight rim like the r320 and it just feels great.
One word of caution to people using generic spacers say from Amazon/eBay and the like. The plastic moulding around the RJ45 connector may interfere with the spacer if the spacers outer diameter is too large. I just turned my initial spacer down on the lathe enough to clear the connector while I waited for a more elegant solution to come in.
I really like the Turn R305 wheel. I had Fanatec Mclaren V2 before and it felt bit too plastic. The grip is much better in the Turn wheel, bit larger and more comfortable. I had to switch the paddles from left to right for now in my Podium Paddle module and mount the paddles more rearwards to get enough clearance between my hand and GT-paddles. This problem would be solved with proper button module and spacer or by using the F1-paddles.
Purchased this to add to my Fanatec hub for GT3 and similar racing. Wanted a rim bigger that the formula V2 and was open top. I love racing with this wheel. Already have quite a few hours in ACC with it and it's perfect, would highly recommend.
This button plate is awesome I have it attached to a motamec wheel on a vrs direct force pro. I have tested it on the full 20 Newton meters and it holds up just as good as my carbon fiber asher button plate. It's very light weight so it feels very responsive like it's just the wheel attached. Also the customer service that Zach provides is top notch. If you are looking for a great quality button plate for an amazing price this is the best option in the sim racing world hands down .
LOVE the R305 paired with my Fanatec Podium DD1 + Endurance Module. Everything was done right from branding, shipping to wheel quality. TURN operates with a high attention for detail and it shows in all aspects of the customer experience. This will be my new primary driver. A Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Suede rim will play alternate. If you want more standardized endcoder clearance for the bottom two rotaries pick-up the R320, but I prefer the smaller spec wheel. Just a matter of user preference. Highly recommended!
Wanted to pair it with a Fanatec Endurance Module, got the 20mm spacer for it, but the buttons ended up being a bit too far away for my hands. Ended up also picking up an R320, and paired this with a Turn Racing button box instead. Outstandingly comfortable rim!
Purchased this wheel for racing GT class cars and it was highly recommended for use with the Fanatec button module. It fits perfect. Feels great racing without gloves, good grip and plenty of firm cushioning I wear a xxl size glove for reference.
I’ve been using the BP2 for about two weeks now, and it’s fantastic! Well designed, well made, and insanely easy to set up. The shifters feel fantastic and are nice and tactile. Works great when paired with an OMP 330mm wheel mounted to a Simagic Alpha Mini. The supplied USB extender (which I wasn’t expecting haha) is also really nice, and is the perfect solution for connecting the BP2 to my PC. Absolutely zero complaints, keep up the great work!
Bought the R305 when it first came out and was my daily driver coupled with a Fanatec Universal hub on a DD2.
Also had the Fanatec Endurance button module and wished I could fit the R305 on it as I would have considered it the best of both worlds.
Along came the R320… perfect fit to the Endurance Module with a Podium hub. And if I needed a round wheel, 6 hex bolts is all I need to remove to swap the R320 with a round wheel.
The BP2 button box is a great value. The buttons are very nice, and every function worked properly right out of the box. I like that the funky switches have a nice positive click for every function. The only complaint I had was that the shifters and buttons, while good, were not quite as nice as my Cube Controls Formula Pro that costs twice as much. For the price, the BP2 is great work and well worth it. I have it paired with a Sim Racing Coach 33 Cup wheel rim and the shifters have plenty of adjustability to make the larger rim work.
